Celebrating Success: Highlights from Today's Train the Trainer Day at WAT Halesowen

1st May 2024

IMG 3204A fantastic day at WAT Halesowen. We proudly hosted an enriching Train the Trainer day, delivered by StepLab, as part of the Priority Education Investment Areas (PEIA) project that we are supporting and leading in partnership with the Department for Education and Teach Like a Champion (TLAC).

This special event brought together all UK experts and a representative from each participating school, dedicated to mastering the art of instructional coaching. The sessions led by Rachel Sewell and Rachel Ball from StepLab were not just informative but transformative, offering practical tools and strategies to enhance teaching and learning across schools in Walsall and Sandwell.

The day was structured around essential coaching techniques, including effective ways to gather evidence, review progress, and utilise praise and prompts to foster a positive learning environment. Our educators engaged in thoughtful 'Connect and Clarify Conversations,' which are designed to build trust and openness essential for effective coaching.

The atmosphere was charged with enthusiasm as participants shared insights and developed action plans to implement their new skills. The collaborative spirit was palpable, underscoring the collective commitment to fostering a culture where educators feel empowered to lead and inspire.

As we reflect on today's successes, we are reminded of the powerful impact of collective endeavour in advancing educational practices. We look forward to seeing how these newly honed skills will enhance classroom experiences and student outcomes across our schools.
